Sentinel Mine (Kalumbila): More Than a Decade of Partnership and Growth
Omega Risk Solutions Zambia proudly continues its longstanding partnership with Sentinel Mine, commonly known as Kalumbila Mine, following the renewal of its security contract during December 2025.
The partnership dates back to September 2012, when Omega first commenced operations at the mine during its early development phase. Over the years, Omega has witnessed the transformation of Sentinel Mine into one of Zambia’s largest copper-producing operations.
The renewed agreement further strengthens a relationship built on professionalism, operational adaptability, and continuous service excellence within one of Zambia’s most demanding mining environments.
Several Omega personnel have served at the project since its early development stages, reflecting the stability, commitment, and institutional experience built within the operation over more than a decade.
Today, Omega’s responsibilities at Sentinel Mine include a wide range of integrated security functions, including:
- Physical guarding of strategic infrastructure
- Mobile and static patrol operations
- K9 deployments and rapid response capability
- Access control management
- Alarm monitoring and emergency response
- Joint operational teams with Zambia Police
- Surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations
- Operational coordination with drone surveillance units
As operational risks and criminal threats evolved over time, Omega continuously adapted its deployment strategies and operational technologies to strengthen risk mitigation and support mine security objectives.
One of the latest operational developments has been the introduction of a specialised marine section supporting environmental and water resource protection activities in partnership with conservation authorities. The unit assists in monitoring restricted fishing zones and supporting the management of protected water resources within the broader mine environment.
Omega remains proud of its long-standing contribution to Sentinel Mine and extends sincere appreciation to the mine’s Risk Management leadership for their continued cooperation and support.
Project Manager Appointed at Sentinel Mine: David Thomas Jackson
Omega Risk Solutions is pleased to announce the appointment of David Jackson as Project Manager for the Sentinel Mine contract in Kalumbila, from 1 January 2026.
Originally from Hermanus in South Africa, David is married and the proud father of three children. He brings with him extensive experience gained through service in the South African military, the South African Police Service, and the private security industry.
Over the course of his career, David has worked alongside security professionals in various regions around the world, managing security operations ranging from small specialist teams to large-scale deployments. His broad operational background has equipped him with extensive expertise in security risk management, personnel leadership, training, and client relationship management.
In his new role, David will be responsible for overseeing Omega’s security operations at Sentinel Mine, one of Zambia’s largest and most strategically important mining operations.
The management and staff of Omega extend their congratulations to David on his appointment and wish him every success as he leads the Sentinel Mine operation into its next chapter.
