Introduction: Alleged association with MKP Zambia Limited
- This document, as supported by documentary evidence from both the United Nations and our legal representatives in South Africa and the United States of America, should clarify any concerns in relation to alleged UN sanctions linked to MKP Zambia Limited and its alleged association with Omega.
- Omega holds no association to MKP Zambia Limited to and subsequent to the UN investigation the UN omitted to refer Omega from its 2021 Final Report to the UN Security Council and has not sanctioned Omega in any manner, whatsoever.
Origin of the Allegations:
- The issue stems from a United Nations Panel of Experts investigation into Malaysia Korea Partners Security Systems (MKPSS) and related entities, in connection with sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the DPRK.
- During or about 2009 to 2010, Omega considered a joint venture with MKPSS in Zambia for legitimate commercial reasons. A new entity, Omega MKP Zambia Limited, was registered with Omega holding 51% and two Zambian nationals holding the balance.
Material Facts:
- MKPSS itself never held shares in Omega MKP Zambia.
- Omega had no knowledge of, and certainly no relationship with either MKP Malaysia, Han Hun II or Mohamed Yazid Merzouk.
- Omega demanded that MKP Zambia cease and desist to associate itself with the name ‘Omega’. The name of Omega MKP Zambia was changed in November 2017 to its current name, Omega Risk Solutions Zambia Limited.
United Nations Clearance:
- In March 2021, Omega retained the legal services of Nichols Liu LLP (Washington, D.C., USA) to independently confirm its status with the UN Security Council.
- Omega obtained written confirmation on 25 March 2021 (Exhibit 1) that the Panel had no current interest in Omega, was not seeking any further information. The Panel confirmed that it did not refer to Omega in its 2021 Final Report to the Security Council.

- On 28 April 2021 Omega further obtain the UN Security Council Committee’s validation on 28 April 2021 (Exhibit 2) wherein it is confirmed that the UN carries no further interest in Omega and expresses gratitude for Omega’s cooperation. The matter is deemed finalised.

- Attached is the verification that Omega is not listed on the UN Security Council Consolidated List (Exhibit 3).

- The UNSC’s inquiries regarding Omega have concluded without any finding of wrongdoing by Omega. If any wrongdoing had been found, the Council would have included Omega and its negative findings in its final report.
Final Position:
- Omega has never been sanctioned by the United Nations or any other international body.
- The UN Security Committee’s concerns did not relate to Omega, but rather to an unrelated third party. Omega’s name was unlawfully associated with a third party.
- The UN has closed any inquiries and confirmed Omega is in good standing.
- Omega currently provides specialised security services to more than twenty-five diplomatic missions and to fifteen United Nations Agencies across Africa, notably then also to the very same agency who reviewed Omega. As such Omega’s contracts and continued relationships with both government entities and the United Nations, itself, underscores Omega’s compliance record and operational integrity.
