The annual Spar Women’s Run took place in a cold and wet Port Elizabeth on Saturday the 04th of May 2013. It was a great occasion and Spar managed to raise R200,000 for the Paraplegic Association in Port Elizabeth.
The day commenced with just under 13,000 runners lining up for the 10km and 5km races. Even though it was raining, spirits were high at the starting line.
Omega Risk Solutions’ Security Officers were deployed to safeguard the Registration- , V.I.P.-, Media- and Medical tents as well as the Supplier Stalls and the venue for the concert.
Following the official race, the crowd was entertained by Toya Delazy, best known for her chart topping hit “Pump it on”. In 2012 she received the most SAMA nominations of all times.
Port Elizabeth’s Area Manager, Mr. Charl van Vuuren, was tasked with the duty of providing V.I.P. escorting.
No incidents were reported during the event and we want to extend a special thanks to Senior Inspector Wellington Hanabe and his team for another well run Spar event in the Port Elizabeth area.
